The MBS application was developed in response to the growth in both the number of online betting operations and in the capability and distribution of mobile devices such as mobile phones and PDAs. In the current market the distinction between a mobile phone and a PDA is becoming blurred with more and more mobile phones offering significant JavaTM support and more PDAs offering wireless connection as standard. These developments open the way for the development of applications that can run on mobile devices that can interact with online systems.

The Mobile Betting System application performs the following functions:

Download racing data (a race card) from a server application.
Presents the racing data to the user to allow the selection of a meet, race and runner
Allows the user to enter their account id and password
Allows the user to enter their stake
Submits the bet details to the server
Displays the acceptance/rejection of the bet by the server.
