Introduction
DOCTRAK is a utility to help manage the documents used in the day to day activities of an office.
Purpose
During the day to day running of a project a number of routine questions may be asked such as:
Without adequate document configuration control these simple questions can become very difficult to answer. In many offices these questions can only be answered instantly by one person and as a result they may end up spending more of their time than is really necessary answering this type of question. DOCTRAK is designed to aid the control of documents and provide an interface through which everyone can find the information they need, even when the Configuation Manager is on holiday. The utility is designed to be accessed and managed over a network such as may exisit in the majority of modern office environments. It is also designed to be hardware independent. The only requirements are the existence of a Java virtual machine to run the server and a Java enabled browser for the clients. System Requirements

System FeaturesOnce the DocTrak server is started the interface is similar to many of the common search engines available on the internet. The Server (DocTrakServer) provides facilities to input document and author details, perform searches and access status information. The client (DocTrakApp) provides facilities for users to perform searches on the document database. To DoAllow every feature of the utility to be accessed via HTML pages including the administration features.
